Inspiration
As a Vietnamese-American artist and a child of refugees, she is deeply influenced by her family legacy and culture.
Her grandfather Bui Xuan Dang’s exquisite botanical paintings and dedication to orchid research introduced Jess to the world of art. Her mother’s garden and watercolor paintings showed the enduring power of flowers.
Education
After a career in biomedical research and tech, Jess continually advanced her education with personal interests that focus on creative problem solving and making.

Jess Nguyen is a Bay Area native, and has lived/worked in San Francisco since 2010.
Her metal sculptures are cast and forged at Splady Art Studios in Oakland.
