Jess Nguyen selected for “Bouquets To Art 2024”
“Bouquets To Art” is celebrating its 40th year at the de Young Museum in San Francisco!
Inspired by the special “Fashioning San Francisco: A Century of Style”, I created my newest floral sculpture “The Boy & The Heron” that will be on display from June 4–9, 2024.
This floral fashion was inspired by my wish to include men’s fashion as part of the “Fashioning San Francisco” exhibition, my husband’s Irish/Scottish ancestry, my love for Golden Gate Park, gardens in the City, and Blue Heron Lake (formerly Stow Lake).
My mushroom bronze brooch made using lost wax casting techniques at Splady Art Studios in Oakland, CA. I carved this cute baby mushie in wax, made a mold, poured the bronze, and finished it up with power tools and hand, then added a patina with liver of sulphur. This one is available for purchase. The bigger sibling has been already purchased. But follow me for future mushroom drops! There’s a giant one coming this summer!
This special annual engagement is where you can view outstanding floral design inspired by the permanent art collection of the de Young Museum. For 1 week only, flower lovers can enjoy the works of more than 100 of the Bay Area’s most renowned floral designers.
